Overview About the Program

Technology development which is significantly fast has changed the social system and affect our communication behavior in all aspects of life. Previously, social closeness is always associated with being together physically, nowadays the current meaning of 'social' has shifted to a virtual life that does not require physical contact. Similarly, previously every post office was flooded with holiday greeting postcard stacks, now post office must face the fact that the stack of postcards have been turned into a 160-character short messages that are sent in seconds. Previously, advertisements require a large spaceor definite time to enjoy it, now only with a small space QR Codecan be scanned anywhere, anytime. The same thing happens to the world of mass communication. Agenda setting of the old news used to  be made by media coordinator only, nowadays the audience can freely lead the masses to a specific news topic through the power of citizen journalism channels that spread freely.

 

These changes became the inspiration energy for Bakrie University to organize Communication Science Studies Program that aligns with the rapid development of technology and the increasing power of individuals independence and communities through the development of communication science based on Technopreneurship. The atmosphere of education and knowledge-learning is designed specifically for student and academic community so that they always anticipate toward the latest developments, and are able to answer the challenge with an independent spirit, creative and innovative which are known as the entrepreneur's soul. The curriculum is always updated, proximity to world of communication industry through synergistic collaboration, continuous research to inspire the creation of theories that are relevant to the current phenomenon as well as a reference for the world of communication industry is part of the efforts made by the Communication Science Studies Program Bakrie University.

 

Thus, it is expected that graduates are not only able to answer the scientific and professional problems  related to the communication world, but are also able to optimize the use of technology in developing their entrepreneurial spirit. More than just getting an academic degree, graduates will be inspired to create new ideas and have the enthusiasm and competence to compete up to the global stage.

 

Communication Science Program Bakrie University has three areas of concentration, namely, Corporate Communication, Marketing Communicationand Mass Media Communications.

 

Vision

Become the development center of communication science based on technopreneurship that is   synergistic with the development and needs of communication industry, promote innovation and value-oriented creativity, and also has the ability to compete in the arena of global competition.

 

Mission

·     Conduct research on an ongoing basis, either independently in an academic environment as well as collaborate with relevant communication industry

·     Periodically publishes scientific publication that presents the results of recent research and thought related to the phenomenon development of latest communication

·     Organize education with a curriculum that is always updated according to development and needs of communication industry which oriented on improving competency in the face of global competition

·     Run  community service as well as soft skills development based on Technopreneurship, either independently or collaborate with communication industry institution and related professional organizations

·     Apply the use of environmentally friendly technology in all educational activities, research and community service and also contribute to acculturate it through continuous communication campaign

 

Course Objectives

·     Create quality graduates with the following criterias:

·     Have an open attitude and always responsive to changes and advances in science, technology and the problems faced by society, especially related to the field of communication

·     Master the basics of scientific methodology, so that are able to develop the communication science and act as an intellectual should.

·     Have basic skills in understanding, explaining and solving problems in the area of communication science skills according to the interested field of communication that is occupied

·     Understand the principles of management and are able to apply principles of technopreneurship according to the communication specialty within productive activity and community service

Corporate Communication: The ability to manage corporate communication in an integrated way, ranging from strategic management of public affairs by utilizing various media channels (onlineand offline), investor relation, media, stake holders and share holders, good corporate governance, companies brand communications and corporate campaign, internal media management and corporateevent, CSR management, and mastery of research methodology to measure and evaluate corporate image. Also has soft skillsof entrepreneurship, leadership, creative thinking and innovative, social skills, presentation skills and professional ethics.

Also has soft skillsof entrepreneurship, leadership, creative thinking and innovative, social skills, presentation skillsand professional ethics.
