B.P. Kusumo Bintoro graduated from Civil Engineering Department - Bandung Institute of Technology in 1982. Lack of management knowledge that he faced in his job as Project Engineer of a state-owned construction company was fulfilled when he joined Wijawiyata Manajemen program organized by Institute for Management Education & Development  (LPPM) in Jakarta in 1983.

Gaining the highest academic achievement among his classmates encouraged LPPM to recruit him as a professional staff. In 1986 he was selected to receive grants from USAID to pursue MBA degree from the University of Southern California – Los Angeles majoring in International Business which he accomplished in 1987. In 1994 he received offer from one of his former students in the MBA program to involve in 500kV Extra High Voltage Transmission project from Ungaran – Surabaya Barat funded by the Asian Development Bank loan. His main task is to establish the Division Engineering and Procurement, as well as frequently acting for Deputy Project Director. Soon after the handover of the project in 1997, the monetary crisis began hit Indonesia and the owner decided to liquidate the company because there were no more projects. His teaching activities to utilize his spare time proved beneficial, when his colleague who owned a consulting firm in the field of information technology asked for his services to join Y2K Compliance project in PT TELKOM, particularly for accounting and finance applications in 1997, the year that marked his early involvement in the field of information technology until 2006. Medio 2005 marked his new career as a part time lecturer at SBM ITB and later on at Bakrie School of Management (now Bakrie University) since August 2007. Determined to dedicate his services in education, since August 2010 he enrolled in the Doctor of Science in Management program of SBM-ITB and accomplished in 2015. His research interests include Enterprise Resource Planning implementation and drama theoretic analysis on decision making and negotiation.
